Common Law Admission Test (CLAT): There are 24 National Law Universities in India providing undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs based on the results of CLAT – a national-level law entrance exam. The Consortium of National Law Universities comprising representative universities are responsible for conducting the CLAT exam 2024. The CLAT exam is also used by several affiliated universities and institutions for law admissions in India and abroad. NLUs conducted CLAT on a rotating basis up to 2018. Later in the year 2019, a permanent organization called the “Consortium of NLUs” was set up comprising NLUs to oversee the CLAT exam. NLSIU Bangalore is the central executive office of the CLAT consortium. The CLAT 2024 will be used for all admissions to the five-year integrated LL.B. and LL.M. programs for the academic session 2024–2025.
The Registration Process for CLAT 2024 has been closed
The Common Law Admission Test, or CLAT, application process has been closed for the academic year 2024 in September month. The authority started the application procedure on July 1, 2023. Applicants who wish to take the Common Law Admission Test must turn in their application by November 10, 2023, which was earlier set for November 3, 2023. The exam is set to take place in offline mode on 3rd December 2023. Undergraduate (UG) CLAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates applying for the UG Program using the CLAT 2024 have no higher age limit.
- Candidates must receive the minimum percentage of marks required by their qualifying exam (10+2 or an equivalent examination) to be eligible.
- Candidates from General, OBC, PwD, NRI, PIO, and OCI categories must receive 45% percent marks or its equivalent grade.
- Candidates from the SC/ST category will have a relaxation of 5%, which means they must receive 40% of the aggregate marks or the equivalent.
- Candidates may also apply for the CLAT 2024 Exam if their qualifying is due in the months of March or April 2024. However, students must show proof that they passed the qualifying exam to qualify for admission. If they fail to do so, they will not be accepted for admission to their chosen program.
Postgraduate (PG) 2024 CLAT Eligibility Criteria
- An LL.B. degree or its equivalent, with a minimum of fifty percent (50%) of the aggregate marks for candidates from the General, OBC, PwD, NRI, PIO, or OCI categories.
- 45 percent of the aggregate marks or its equivalent for applicants who fall into the SC or ST categories.
- Applicants may apply if they will be taking their qualifying exam in March or April of 2024.
- The CLAT 2024 application has no upper age limit.
CLAT Application Form 2024
Candidates should register online via the CLAT website to be considered for admission to law programs at NLUs and other private universities. These are the steps to fill out the online CLAT application.

Step 2: Select ‘Register’ from the homepage.
Step 3: Provide the required information, including your name, email address, and mobile number.

Application Fee for CLAT 2024
- You can pay the CLAT Application fee online.
- The application fee is Rs. 4,000 for those who come under the General, OBC, PWD, NRI, PIO, or OCI categories.
- The application fee for candidates in the SC, ST, and BPL categories is Rs. 3,500.
- Refunds for application fees are not permissible.

The consortium released the admit cards on November 21, 2023, for all applicants who have enrolled for CLAT 2024 and paid their fees. The CLAT admit card 2024 is currently available for download at consortiumofnlus.ac.in, the official website. The CLAT admission card can be downloaded by candidates by following the guidelines provided below.
- Go to the official website of CLAT 2024.
- Enter your registration number and password to log in.
- Enter your preferred NLUs (at least five).

Answer Key for CLAT 2024
When the exam is over in December, the consortium will provide candidates with access to the CLAT 2024 Answer key. Students can visit consortiumofnlus.ac.in, to obtain and download the master question paper and answer key. It will help candidates determine their scores.
CLAT Result 2024
The CLAT result 2024 is likely to be released in the last week of December 2023 tentatively once the exam is over on Dec 3, 2023. Students can visit the official website and log in using their registration number and password to download their results.
CLAT 2024 Cut-Off
Applicants should be aware of the previous year’s patterns and cut-offs before taking the CLAT in 2024. With the past year’s cut-offs in mind, they will be more prepared for the test. The CLAT cut-off is the minimal score required for admission to a national law university. Different colleges have varying cut-offs based on the candidates’ preferred colleges and their CLAT exam results.
CLAT Counselling 2024
The Consortium of NLUs plans to tentatively begin CLAT counselling in the second week of December 2024. CLAT 2024 counselling will start after the Common Law Admission Test is over. There will be five rounds to it. For CLAT counselling registration, candidates in the general category must pay a price of Rs. 30,000, while candidates in the reserved categories must pay a charge of Rs. 20,000. The only applicants whose names are on the invite list can attend CLAT counselling 2024.
