Filling out the CAT Application Form: 5 Tips to Avoid the Most Common Mistakes

Name: The name of the candidate must be supplied EXACTLY as it appears on the SSC or 10th-grade certificate.

Category: Use the Certificates/Proforma for the Reserved Category.

Prescribed format for category certificates – SC-ST/NC-OBC / EWS.

  • Format required for a disability certificate: PwD Form V, VI, VII
  • Academic Specifics:

Overall Marks Consideration: Regardless of board requirements, incorporate all marks for all topics stated on the mark sheet when calculating percentages for the 10th and 12th/Equivalent examinations.

Grades to Percentage Using CGPA Conversion: Utilize the technique approved by the relevant Board or University to convert CGPA to a percentage. Use the following formula if there isn’t a conversion scheme: (CGPA/Total CGPA) * 100 (Note: 100% does not correspond to a CGPA of 10).

Total Percentage: To two decimal places, enter your total percentage. For example, if the total marks gained are 421 and the maximum marks are 600, the computation is *(421/600)100 = 70.17.

Final Year Students Anticipating Results: Final-year candidates should complete the Common Admission Test (CAT) application process using the aggregate percentage determined by using the most recent set of marks.

Final Year Candidates with “Promotion/Pass without Marks”: Bachelor’s degree candidates in their final year who were promoted without receiving any marks in the previous semester may choose this option when submitting their CAT application form (eligible for candidates graduating in 2022, 2023, or 2024).

Work Experience: Only full-time paid work experience will be taken into consideration as of July 31, 2024. Part-time, project, internship, articleship, and pre-graduation experiences are not accepted as legitimate forms of work experience; therefore, do not include them.
